Mary Catherine + Tanner’s June Wedding at Raffaldini Vineyards
It’s no wonder that the majority of our weddings are at the beautiful and scenic Raffaldini Vineyards! It’s the perfect back drop for a unique wedding – one where the couple can really create the day they have imagined with several options that span the entire vineyard. There are several locations to host the ceremony – in the front of the Italian villa with the beautiful wood doors as a backdrop, on the piazza with the vines nearby and rolling hills in the background or anywhere next to the vines on the property.
Mary Catherine & Tanner decided to exchange vows near the vines with nothing blocking the view – not even an arbor, pergola or wine barrels – just the two of them in front of the vines. Specifically, rows of Sagrantino grapes which are used in Raffaldini’s Il Falco red wine among others. The focus was on the natural setting, their guests and the vows.
There are several options for the cocktail hour location as well but they chose to have it on the second floor of the villa where the balcony has an amazing view of the vineyard and rolling hills in the distance. We included an additional bar upstairs for their celebration which worked really well for the flow of the event and kept all the guests happy while they waited for the wedding party announcements. I’ve included a few detail shots from the cocktail hour – the memorial and gift tables including the atlas where guests signed in.
They opted for an open tent and twinkle lights over the piazza for the reception which made it a little more romantic and would also cover any light pop-up showers. To balance out the romantic natural setting, the guest tables were set up surrounding the water fountain and were topped with ivory linens, ivory napkins and very simple centerpieces with variations of greenery and soft floating candles.
Our FAVORITE things about Mary Catherine & Tanner’s wedding:
- The BAND – it was the first time that one of my clients booked a band at the vineyard & I would definitely recommend – it added so much to the overall vibe they wanted and kept everyone on the dance floor!
- FUN COUPLE – I’m amazed at the wonderful clients I have and Mary Catherine & Tanner were so genuine and lovely to work with…plus they had one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen – a custom life size poster of them which was unveiled at the rehearsal dinner but also made its way in front of the bridal suite on the wedding day because it was just sooo darn cute. Hate I didn’t get a photo:(
- The FOOD – Holly Tate Fine Catering always provides an awesome meal! I usually don’t include the menu on my blogs, but we loved Mary Catherine & Tanner’s selections so much especially the shrimp & grits which came with three optional toppings. I love shrimp & grits but usually don’t care for the sausage so this way, the guests could decide what toppings they wanted to add in – such a great idea! They also decided to have the band start playing immediately following the first dances allowing guests the option to start dancing right away or visit the food stations (which were available for two hours).
Cocktail Appetizers: sweet potato biscuits with Black Forest ham and maple butter | medjool dates filled with goat cheese mousse drizzled with honey | mini jumbo lump crab cakes with roasted red pepper rouille
Dinner stations: mixed greens with fresh strawberries, goat cheese, candied pecans and strawberry vinaigrette | spice rubbed and grilled beef tenderloin with a three herb chimichurri sauce and house horseradish cream sauce | ultimate baked macaroni and cheese with parmigiano reggiano and aged cheddar | jumbo shrimp with stone ground grits and three toppings – spicy red bell pepper and andouille sausage cream sauce, country ham cream sauce or Charleston barbecue sauce | fresh green beans with meyer lemon vinaigrette and panko/parmesan breadcrumbs
I’m getting hungry just listing all this yumminess! I think they should have this meal on every anniversary along with one of the Raffaldini wines that they chose – wouldn’t that be special!!!
Speaking of wine – it’s always delicious at Raffaldini and there is something for everyone! They chose one of my new favorites – Auguri which is their first traditional method sparkling wine (think prosecco style) and they also selected the Pinot Grigio, Bella Mistro (red blend) and La Dolce Vita (made similar to a Moscato d’Asti). The only thing I don’t like about vineyard weddings is not being able to drink a glass of wine since I’m working…. :(!
Lastly, I just want to mention the cake. It is always flavorful and tasty when it’s made by Regi Originals! If you haven’t been able to tell over the years, I just love Regi’s cakes:)
I’ve included a few additional photos below by Allison Vrhovac Photography just because I seriously LOVE vineyard weddings…plus Mary Catherine’s dress was absolutely stunning, the wedding party was super fun and Mary Catherine and Tanner are a beautiful couple!!
